WILDER CÔA is the first event in Portugal entirely dedicated to wilderness-based nature tourism, directly linking nature photography with its potential for tourism. It was originally called EXPERIENCE(CÔA), but has since evolved into its current, more comprehensive and diverse format.

An event that aims to bring the current state of nature tourism in Portugal to the forefront of the discussion and to jointly seek solutions for its growth and consolidation as one of the main pillars of tourism in our country, using the rewilding approach and nature photography as catalysts for this growth in nature tourism in the region and across the country. The Wild Côa Network and its achievements provide the backdrop for a broader discussion, drawing on other national and international examples to facilitate an exchange of practices and knowledge that will enable the initiative to be replicated across the country. The Rewilding Photo Contest is directly integrated into this initiative.

This event also aims to attract nature tourism in a wild setting to the Greater Côa Valley region, reinforcing its identity as ‘the wildest part of Portugal’ in the current context.
