9 JUNE

8.00 pm – Welcome dinner at the Cró Hotel with organisers and speakers
9.30 pm/10 pm: Two activities taking place simultaneously (moth trapping with Fernando Romão +
night-time photography outing in the area around the old thermal baths with João Cosme)
11.30 pm – End of the first day’s programme

10 JUNE

09:00 – Opening ceremony with the usual official speeches
09:30 – Introductory presentation on Rewilding Portugal and its current range of tourism offerings
related to nature tourism – Fernando Teixeira
10.00–11.45 – Round-table discussion on the theme ‘An inside look at the Côa Selvagem Network’ with the
following speakers: Elsa Gavinho (Caminhos da Natureza), Tiago Alves (Malcata Eco Experience),
Andrea Carneiro (Casa Painova) and Anabela Martins (Moinho do Maneio) – 15-minute presentations
per speaker + 45-minute round-table discussion
11.45 am – Presentation by the first keynote speaker – Luís Octávio Costa (Kitato) on the
Primitiva project – 30 minutes, followed by questions and closing remarks
12.30 pm – Lunch break
12.30 pm–2.00 pm – Lunch at the hotel restaurant
2.00 pm–3.45 pm – Resumption of the session with the round-table discussion “Nature Photography in the Service of
Conservation” with speakers Ricardo Lourenço, Albano Soares and Luís Quinta – 20-minute
presentations per speaker + 45-minute round-table discussion
15:45 – Presentation by the second keynote speaker – Francisco Marquez – 30 minutes, followed
by a Q&A session and closing remarks
16:30 – Round-table discussion on the theme “Photography, Nature Tourism and Birdwatching: Challenges
and Opportunities” with speakers Mário Cunha, Luís Coelho and João Ministro – 20-minute
presentations per speaker + 45-minute round-table discussion
18:15/18:30 – Closing of the session and the conference day
19:00 – Dinner at the hotel restaurant
21:00 – Screening of the film “Côa Mais Selvagem” followed by a discussion with the filmmaker

09:00–12:00 – 4 activities taking place simultaneously (Nature Bathing with Malcata Eco
Experience near the accommodation + nature photography outing to Paul de Toirões led by João
Cosme leading the tour + guided tour of the Carapito Valley led by Fernando Romão
+ flora workshop for children, led by Celina from Rewilding Portugal) – subject to registration
and with a maximum number of participants (photography outing: 15 people + guided tour: 25 people
+ nature immersion: 15 people + children’s workshop (ages 6–12): 15–20 participants) – Sabugal Municipal Council
will provide coach transport for at least one of the outings,
most likely the visit to the Carapito Valley
1.00 pm – Lunch at the hotel restaurant – this is also offered to the shortlisted photographers –
families pay the usual agreed price
3.00 pm–4.30 pm – Photography competition awards ceremony – opening speeches,
announcement of winners, presentation of prizes, winners’ speeches, etc.
5.00 pm – Official end of the event
