There is now a new business benefiting from the Rewilding Europe Capital (REC) funding facility, Flor Alta. This is a company based in Almendra, near Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and offers a wide range of handcrafted and natural products, an alternative to the synthetic substances found in more conventional beauty products.
After Casa da Cisterna, Miles Away and WildLife Portugal, there is a new business to benefit from the financing mechanism Rewilding Europe Capital (REC). Flor Alta is a company based in Almendra, near Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and offers a wide range of handcrafted and natural products, an alternative to the synthetic substances found in more conventional beauty products. Products such as lavender floral water, calendula-based hand cream, among many other offerings, Flor Alta offers new, more sustainable solutions for male and female beauty. Flor Alta is also a company belonging to the Wild Côa Network, a business network created to promote a new economy based on nature in the Greater Côa Valley.
This support from REC to Flor Alta will serve to increase production and consolidate the position of this small business, the acquisition of an alembic that will allow production to grow and investment in new cultures that will diversify the offer and create new products. The Rewilding Europe Capital (REC) fund loan supports business development in the pilot areas of Rewilding Europe, including the Greater Côa Valley where Rewilding Portugal is working, and in certain cases also of other members of the Rewilding European Network .
Daniel Veríssimo, enterprise officer at Rewilding Portugal, points out that “the natural cosmetics business has a good added value and fits into the vision of an economy based on nature that Rewilding Portugal has for the Greater Côa Valley”. Mariana Beja, partner of Flor Alta, says she is “satisfied with the support given by REC” and believes that “with the alembic, the business will take a leap and continue to grow”.
As part of the partnership agreement, Flor Alta also undertakes to promote small rewilding actions on its property and its surroundings, namely promoting natural regeneration, planting certain trees and preserving wild plants in the area. This financial support initiative also serves to promote a rewilding approach to nature conservation and the application of its principles and practices.
