Rewiding Portugal and the Municipality of Sabugal came together to carry out the second edition of the nature photography contest “Rewilding Photo Contest”, in an edition that brings many news and new prizes. Comunidade Cultura e Arte will be the communication partner of this photographic contest and submissions are now open.
The nature photography contest “Rewilding Photo Contest”, has as its main objective to promote the Portuguese natural heritage and its respective valorization and protection, through nature photography as a way of making known to the community the magnificent ecosystems and respective species of wild fauna and flora that we have in our country. This year, the contest is divided into four different categories: Fauna; Flora and Fungi; Landscapes with natural habitats and the Greater Côa Valley (photos on any nature theme can compete in this category, as long as they were taken in this region). In all categories, only works dealing with wild fauna and flora will be accepted. Each competitor can compete in more than one category, but only with one photo in each, and can only be awarded in one of the categories in question, not being able to accumulate prizes. If you want to compete in more than one category, you must select the various categories in which you want to compete and submit all the photographs, identifying which category each photograph belongs to.
The competition jury is made up of an element from Rewilding Portugal, an element from the Municipality of Sabugal, an element from Comunidade Cultura e Arte and João Cosme, a nature photographer recognized and awarded on several occasions. The admission of entries takes place between May 1 and May 20, 2022 and the jury will then deliberate on the works presented until June 21, 2022. The public announcement of the winners of the contest will take place on June 22, 2022, in the official communication channels of the promoting entities. The awarding event will take place later on October 1, 2022, and will be in Vilar Maior, in the municipality of Sabugal, including also a complete free experience to the winners: a guided tour of the rewilding area of Vale Carapito, lunch and a final snack.
About the prizes, there are also news, as there will be three prizewinners per category. In each of the four categories there will be the following prizes: 1st place – 250 euros + a bottle of Altano Rewilding + a magazine from Rewilding Portugal; 2nd place – 150 euros + a bottle of Altano Rewilding + a magazine from Rewilding Portugal; 3rd place – 75 euros + a bottle of Altano Rewilding + a magazine from Rewilding Portugal. All winners will also receive a certificate of award from the contest, including honorable mentions if there’s any.
