Côa Museum

The Côa Museum, which opened in 2010, was designed by Camilo Rebelo and Tiago Pimentel. The building’s conception is based on the idea that “Palaeolithic art in the Côa Valley is perhaps the first manifestation of Land Art”. The Côa Museum’s mission is to safeguard, conserve, research and disseminate Côa Art and other heritage sites in the Côa Valley, combining science, attractiveness and public visits to rock art through cultural projects, promoting the integrated development of the region, highlighting the importance of culture as an element of identity and social promotion, combining cultural heritage with the economy, leisure, knowledge, research and tourism, helping to renew life in the region.
